How we role by Johnny C. at InsiderPages
I walked into this place to find 3 of my crew mellowin' in the corner of the main room. I call it main only cuz it's in the first room you see. We where surprised to see that there were other equally large rooms for people to creep-out in. Seeing that my boys and I aren't professional pool hustlers, I can't really complain about the quality of the tables - they seemed nice to us. The atmosphere is straight old-school. I snuck in my usual pint of dimitri vodka to find that i didn't have to even conceal it. A few guys walked in with a 12-pack of MGD bottles followed by a coupla guys carrying their bikes past the tables. I now know that i can ride my bike here and get my cheap drink on. Anyway. An even and simple plunk-down of 2.50 gets me a pop large enough to mix the whole pint. Just like goin to the Movies. A little bag of chips was a dollar but, as far as I'm concerned, it's going to a good cause (This is coming from an unemployed guy who has to worry about gas money). I also noticed some guys leaving the front counter with some pizza. I'm assuming the frozen variety and hoping Tombstone like back in the day at Disco Wheels on the South Side. I don't know if the rates change depending on when you show, but it was 11.50/hour which was cheap after splitting it four ways and having my boy Mark the Shark carry me as we beat Mike The Dipper and Davie Bitch Stick (both who shot better stick than me that night) in back-to-back-to-back games.

I get it... a few scenes in The Color of Money was shot there. Ok lets get over it now. It smells in there. Prices aren't reasonable with the crappy pool tables. And someone is always trying to take your money there. The food was sub par. An their customer service was non existent. I would rather go somewhere else for the money I paid.

cool place for pool by bob s. at InsiderPages
A relaxed pool hall, welcoming to players of all skill levels, yet still frequented by interesting characters. Classic pool hall environment, but not intimidating. Prices are all right, and table availability is usually no problem. They offer some snacks and drinks, but otherwise it is a good place to go to before going to dinner at a restaurant in the area. Far west of the loop means it's out of the way, but worth a trip to this underrated side of Chicago. Definitely look into checking it out. PROS: pool pure and simple CONS:

Good enough for Newman and Cruise! by Pat B. at InsiderPages
The infamous Color of Money with Tom Cruise and Paul Newman used this facility for filming. A photo of their smiling faces adorns the hallway of Chris' Billiards. Even someone like me (a really bad player!) enjoys going here to shoot some stick. A lot of tables, reasonable prices, a small snack area with drinks, and lots of colorful people make this a place you should visit at least once. You will enjoy this classic pool hall. PROS: Convenient location, lots of tables, some great history! CONS:

Great place to play
Of all pool halls i've been to, this one has got to be the most conducive to playing pool. Not only can focus on your game, but you can watch another going on. It is THE PLACE to play, the only place i feel confortable playing.
