This review is to complain about a fire restoration company ERS (Emergency Restoration Services Inc.) STEER CLEAR of these guys and you will have much more cash in your wallet. A SHYSTER operation, they have an office on Grand Avenue in Chicago. I am working with them right now and wish my fiancé and I had gone with another fire restoration company. Too make a long story short, in the course of repairing our house we wanted them to do some additional work to the property. We wanted a furnace and central air installed. Also, we wanted the flooring in the family room to be leveled out because it sloped from a flood years ago. The project manager named Joel, told me that he expected the cost to be $13,000. Our out of pocket he expected to be no more than $7,000. I was too gullible and should have seen a written estimate of these costs. He also told me that my fiancé should expect a check of approximately $5,000 on the insurance payout of the inflated estimated cost of front windows off of a materials report. She only received a check for $2,785 dollars. After all his years in the business, he had to have known, that we would only receive a lower cash amount for the windows and not the higher estimated materials amount. So the project manager and the company scammed an extra $2,215 dollars from us on the window payout, the $5,000 less the $2,785 we received. As you read ahead you will see that the situation gets worse.
Then Joel called my fiancé and demanded a payment of $10,000 for the extra work. My fiancé refused to write him a check for the $10,000 and Joel said he would stop work on the project, put a lien on the property, lock her out of the house, and force her to sell. The sad thing is that I just started a new job and was not there when they put her under duress and had her sign a contract demanding a $10,000 check. It's tremendously sad that they also demand another $3,000 as a payment when everything is done. So now she has to use the $2,785 check to pay toward the additional $3,000. The bottom line is that I was foolish in not asking for a written estimate of the additional work on the house. I never should have trusted the project manager’s word. When I did ask him for a written detailed summary of the additional work costs, as well as ERS's profit, he told me that was none of my business. Well we were taken for $6,000 because of this situation!!!
I derived the $6,000 as the difference of the $13,000 and the $7,000 I was verbally quoted!!!
DON’T BE SCAMMED BY THIS COMPANY!!! Do some research and find a company that does honest work!!!
Pros : will do standard work!!!
Cons : Will scam you if possible for extra money!!!
