I can only look at fish for so long. Yes there are some pretty cool looking ones and the prehistoric killing machines (aka sharks) were really neat, but after an hour I'm done so paying over $20 is a bit much for the experience I think. The penguins, otters, and sea lions were all cute, but I can see those for free at the Lincoln Park Zoo. I was here for the whales and dolphins.
The Oceanairium is pretty cool - it's fairly large with underwater and ground level viewing so you can see them from both perspectives. The baby beluga was super cute, though I was suprised by the small size of the beluga tank until a docent told us that in the wild belugas actually prefer a smaller area. We heard and saw the tail end of the dolphin show from the lower level - it was fairly interesting and entertaining.
What I find really funny and ironic is that if you host a private event here, one of their specialty themes is SUSHI.
Parking can be pretty pricey, it's worth it to pay $20 for valet.
I had a stellar trip to the Shedd Aquarium last weekend... I saw a ton of cool exhibits. Feeding the fish, Dolphin Exhibit, Anaconda Snake, and more. There was also a huge indoor aquarium with a few species of sharks, swimming around with more than a few aquatic animals.
Pros : The Mission of Shedd Aquarium is to have the "animals connect you to the living world, inspiring you to make a difference."
How cool.
Cons : Humid and a bit stuffy - Felt like Florida in the summer with no wind, the lower level of the Shedd was a bit more comfortable with A/C.
Price Range : $25 - $50
