A Southwestside Tradition
Obbie's pizza is one of the best I have ever had. I grew up in Chicago and have moved to San Antonio, TX. But I visit Chicago on a regular basis and every time I come home the first phone call I make when I land is to Obbie's. I miss excellent pizza. The pizza in Chicago is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

obbies stinks
I recently read that Obbie's Pizza was rated in the top 50 pizza places in Chicago. A friend and fellow co-worker recommended the pizza too. I decided to try Obbie's. I ordered a thin crust with sausage, mushrooms, onions, green peppers and extra sauce. The pizza was ready in 25 minutes. I brought the pizza home in a leaky, greasy paper bag. The pizza was the most horrible pizza I've ever had. The sauce was tasteless. In fact the whole pizza was tasteless. How can onions be tasteless? I threw away more than 3/4 of the pizza. Dominick's and Jewel have better pizzas for less money. Do yourself a favor and avoid Obbie's.

Great pizza, slow service... by Jennifer B. at InsiderPages
Obbie's has really good pizza, and you can always find coupons in the neighborhood papers for dollars off your order. However, if you are planning to pick up, don't leave your house too early because they are notorious for running late on their pick-up orders.

It is what it is...
There are hundreds if not thousands of pizza joints in Chicago to cater to different tastes. You cant argue with success. Obbies has been a neighborhood mainstay since the 70's while many have gone by the wayside. Service is fast, painless, the price is right and the pizza is hot and fresh. If you like deep dish go to Unos..thin is the way to go here. The ingredients are fresh, the sauce is in fact on the sweet side the crust is chewy with just a touch of crispness, there is just enough cheese to bind it all together... and our family loves it... grease and all!!!!
