Rock Bottom Chicago is a wonderful change from what could have been a typical "chain brewery". This is primarily due to great staffing. The brewmaster Pete Crowley, is the Pied Piper of Brewmasters here in Chicago and has set a high standard for quality with his gold medal winning brews such as the 2008 American Stout offering called "Terminal Stout". The food is varied and well prepared. The staff is uniformly helpful and efficient. One of my favorites is their RB Appetizer Sampler. It consists of decent portions of their Titan Toothpicks, Ale-Battered Onion Rings, Buffalo Wings and Brewery Nachos or their Pepperoni and Sausage Pizza which is usually what like to order. The appitizer comes with a variety of dipping sauces. Bring your appetite!
Pros: Excellent rotating brew selection with seasonal and monthly specialty brews, good happy hour appitizer specials. A Mug Club with monthly events and free beer with appitizers at tappings. Host for Regional brewing events and competitions. A roof-top Seasonal beer garden with great views of the hustling city. Private Event rooms.
Cons: It can get pretty crowded during dinner in the bar area and have to go quite a distance from the bar to the rest rooms (upstairs!)
