Rock Bottom Chicago is a wonderful change from what could have been a typical "chain brewery". This is primarily due to great staffing. The brewmaster Pete Crowley, is the Pied Piper of Brewmasters here in Chicago and has set a high standard for quality with his gold medal winning brews such as the 2008 American Stout offering called "Terminal Stout". The food is varied and well prepared. The staff is uniformly helpful and efficient. One of my favorites is their RB Appetizer Sampler. It consists of decent portions of their Titan Toothpicks, Ale-Battered Onion Rings, Buffalo Wings and Brewery Nachos or their Pepperoni and Sausage Pizza which is usually what like to order. The appitizer comes with a variety of dipping sauces. Bring your appetite!

Over Priced!!!
Having lived in NYC for years I'm no stranger to over priced drinks but this place is ridiculous! It's a local happy hour restaurant with bar food yet the mixed drinks are priced as if you are at a 5 star celeb hangout. Give me a break. I will never go back!!!

Pros: Excellent rotating brew selection with seasonal and monthly specialty brews, good happy hour appitizer specials. A Mug Club with monthly events and free beer with appitizers at tappings. Host for Regional brewing events and competitions. A roof-top Seasonal beer garden with great views of the hustling city. Private Event rooms.
Cons: It can get pretty crowded during dinner in the bar area and have to go quite a distance from the bar to the rest rooms (upstairs!)

Great Service!
This restaurant was a last minute selection. We had called the week before for reservations at Volare for our friends 30th birthday celebration. Before we left for Volare, we called to make sure our reservations were set, and we were told by a very snobby man that the "restaurant was backed up with orders" and that the earliest he could get us in was 9pm. Our group was really upset, because our birthday girl is an italian food connoisseur! Luckily, she is also very laid-back and we started walking around by our hotel and soon came across Rock Bottom and decided to try out luck in there. We were warmly greeted by a hyper-active host (who amusingly did the river dance later) and ended up waiting about 30 minutes, which as you all know....on a Saturday night downtown is pretty darn good! After we were seated, our server came up within a few minutes and introduced herself and started taking our drink/appetizer orders. We had that all within 5 minutes and we were pleasantly surprised! We had the homemade guacamole with homemade chips/tortillas! It was delicious, the portion was a bit small but it was still worth it! Our drinks were pretty good, a few of them seemed a little watered down, but most of them were pretty strong and did the job of raising our "spirits"!!! Our food order was taken not long after our appetizer came out and we had it within 15 minutes! Pretty good burgers, fries were not as great, but still ok! The only real con is that it is extremely loud, so if you are looking for a romantic spot, this is not the place for you. If ur looking for somewhere to unwind and have some fun....definitely try this place!

Cool atmosphere, love the roof-top deck
This is a great place to go for after work drinks. On a nice day, Head up to the roof and have a drink at the rooftop bar. They have a solid and diverse offering of self-brewed beers. The menu is also solid. I love the wings, but avoid the salmon fish & chips. The downside is that it's pricey, but what can you expect from a chain brewery located in downtown chicago. If you want cheap drinks, head down the street to one of the many hole-in-the-wall bars.
